Before we begin...
Can I just say — I'm so happy you're here! I'm Gabrielle Brickey. I've been drawing since I was a kid (realistic portraits were my jam) but I always loved the look of cute, stylized faces too! So back in 2011, I set out to learn exactly how to draw them!
Now, I'm excited to share what I've learned through years of sketching, studying, and experimenting. By the end, you'll have your very own hand-drawn female character to hang in your room, share with a friend, or post online. Let's dive in and create a character together!
Lesson 1: Drawing the Eyes
In this lesson, I'll walk you through drawing basic eye shapes, lashes, and eye shadow for your cute characters. We'll also cover shading and blending techniques and how to add super simple highlights to your character's eyes that will make them pop!
